Soda ash
Appeal of the Association of Chemists of Russia to the population: Soda ash GOST 5100-85 is intended for disinfection of surfaces in premises, sanitary equipment, linen, dishes, medical products for infections of bacterial, viral, fungal etiology in health care facilities, at public service facilities, and everyday life. The product is intended for disinfection of surfaces of washing machines, furnishings, dishes, garbage cans, cesspools, sanitary vehicles, for disinfection of medical waste before disposal of vehicles for transporting food products.
Enhanced bactericidal activity due to slightly acidic pH.
The use of soda ash in everyday life
Before synthetic washing powders were firmly introduced into our life, soda ash was widely used in washing. It was added to the water when the laundry was washed with soap, and all household utensils were cleaned with it. Should we now forget the old time-tested remedy? Perhaps this is a great alternative to synthetics. Let's take a closer look at this.
Other names for soda: sodium carbonate, sodium carbonate, laundry soda. But sodium bicarbonate is another substance, it is much weaker than calcined (pH -8?, 1), while calcined pH is -11. It is forbidden to use it for cooking and washing dishes. There is also caustic soda (caustic soda), which is also called caustic soda, which has a pH of 13! It is stronger than calcined and must be used with strict safety measures. In everyday life, it is practically not used.
Safety engineering
1. The substance we are considering is caustic, capable of dehydrating and dissolving fat, when it comes into contact with open skin, it causes a chemical burn. Wear protective gloves when working with it.
2. It should not be stored next to food.
3. It is not used for cooking or added to water for culinary purposes.
4. The powder has the ability to absorb moisture and turn into dense lumps, so for storage you need to use a tightly closed container.
5. This caustic and dangerous substance must be kept hidden by children and animals. If it suddenly happens that it gets into the eyes and respiratory organs, rinse them with water and immediately consult a doctor.
6. In hot water, its activity increases.
7. He was assigned the third hazard class.
8. It is not recommended to use soda in damp buildings because of its increased activity.
Application
1. Descaling the kettle
2. Washing, soaking, digestion and bleaching of laundry.
3. Making laundry gel.
4. Cleaning of kitchen, gas equipment, plumbing.
5. Descaling the washing machine.
6. Cleaning of sewer pipes.
7. Water softening.
8. Washing floors.
9. Removing mold in the washing machine.
10. Removing old paint
11. Disinfection of premises, catering establishments.
12. Spraying garden trees and shrubs against diseases and pests.
Pour soda into a container with heated water (100 grams per 1 bucket of water) and immerse the cloth there, having previously soaped it. It is also good to add the soap, grated, and hold it until morning. After such a procedure, the laundry at first will not look very washed, but it will turn white immediately after the washing machine. Fabrics with a pattern can also be washed with such a detergent, only the water should be slightly warm and the detergent should be added in half. You do not need to boil such laundry. You can also wash it by hand, especially the overalls of workers, this will significantly save on detergents.
This method is best for washing cotton and linen fabrics, but it is not recommended to wash wool and silk with alkali in order to avoid damage to them. Such a preparation is also not suitable for synthetic fabrics. Please note that it is absolutely impossible to use this powder for washing leatherette and other fabrics impregnated with rubber.
Baking soda can significantly improve the quality of your machine wash when added with your detergent. Only the powder should be added, as you always do, and the soda should be poured directly into the drum. In the absence of a washing machine, you need to remember the old proven method - boiling. Just do not use copper or aluminum dishes for this, they will hopelessly ruin your laundry. If you rub things with soap an hour before boiling, the effect will significantly increase.
Solution No. 1: For 10 liters of water, 500 grams of soda ash and 500 grams of "Whiteness". Boil the laundry in this solution for 1 hour. However, this method often should not be used, as it causes fabrics to lose strength. Care should be taken when using this method. In order not to get burned, it is better to wait until it cools down.
Solution number 2: It is suitable for washing clothes for people with allergies and babies. For a bucket of water, liters of soap shavings and soda. We increase the cooking time to two hours.
Solution No. 3: Add two tablespoons of ammonia and hydrogen peroxide to solution No. 2, this will halve the cooking time.
CAUTION: It is only suitable for white cotton and linen fabrics.
Homemade gel
Attention! You cannot use the dishes in which you cook food!
In a bucket or tank, dissolve 0.5 liters of water and 150 grams of grated soap, stirring, heat, you cannot bring to a boil. Then add 150 grams of soda ash and borax there, add 2 liters of water and stir until a homogeneous mass is obtained (this is important, otherwise your product will leave stains).
Further, when the gel cools down, it must be poured into pre-prepared containers with tight-fitting lids and put out in the cold. The finished gel should have a fairly thick consistency.
In a machine wash, the gel is added to the laundry. It can also be washed by hand. Due to the fact that borax is added to the product, it can disinfect your things, it is also suitable for children's clothes, but only in white. Use baking soda instead of soda ash to wash stained items.
When you have hard water
On 10 liters of water put 2 - 3 tablespoons of soda, mix thoroughly. Salts should settle. The water is carefully drained, and what remains at the bottom goes into the toilet. It is good to fill this soft water in the iron, wash in it, but you cannot wash in it and use it as drinking water!
For the car to serve for a long time
To prevent limescale build-up in the washing machine, mothers are strongly advised to use CALGON. It is really necessary if you wash at t not lower than 60 degrees, and your water is not soft enough. But the advantages of washing in soft water: you do not need to spend money on Calgon, it saves energy, since the heating element without scale reaches the required temperature more quickly, and the quality of washing increases. But there are also small drawbacks: too soft water provokes the appearance of rust, and when rinsing, abundant foam is formed. In order to prevent this, you need to accurately dose the agent.

Why is soda better? Consider what Calgon is made of: It turns out that everything is made of our same soda. But besides this, sodium phosphate is added to it, which has long been banned in civilized countries, because it, getting into rivers and lakes, causes an intensive growth of harmful organisms, and they, in turn, have a detrimental effect on our health and the health of the environment. Therefore, it is better to add a little baking soda and thereby have a beneficial effect on the nature around us.
Let's clean like our grandmothers
Soda began to be used long before the appearance of all the drugs that had already become so familiar. It turns out that you can do without them perfectly, and the result will be even better, including for cleaning various kitchen utensils from fat.If you put your pans and other belongings in the tank, pour water to it: 600 grams of soda, a couple of bottles of silicate lei and grated soap, put it all on fire and let it boil (the duration is proportional to the amount of dirt), then it will all be easily washed off. You will definitely like it.

Dishes
You need to dissolve 3 spoons per 1 liter of water. Washing will be effective, but after that you must rinse thoroughly under the tap.

Stove and oven
In 200 grams of water, 3 tbsp. tablespoons of soda and 1 tbsp. a spoonful of silicate glue, a teaspoon of washing powder. Lubricate the surfaces in need of cleaning with the resulting solution and wait half an hour, then the dirt will be easily removed. The procedure can be repeated if necessary. This solution can be stored for a long time in a closed container.

Ceramic tiles and sanitary ware
You will need: 3 tbsp. tablespoons of soda ash and baking soda, 70 ml each. "Whiteness" and 3% vinegar. After mixing two varieties of soda, wipe the previously moistened surfaces with this and leave for a while, the dirt will begin to come off. Then spread the "whiteness" with vinegar on top of the soda, foam should appear, all that remains is to wash it off, and everything is clean!

Sewer blockage
No TIRET is needed to remove grease plugs and other trapped debris. Simply boil three liters of water, add 100 grams of baking soda and pour this into the sink. After half an hour, turn on the tap. Done!

How do I clean the floors?
Pour one hundred grams of soda into hot water, while using rubber gloves to protect the skin of your hands. Then you need to wash off the floor with clean water.

Removing old paint.
Removing perennial paint layers is not an easy task. Here soda can also help us: in a barrel filled with 1/3 of water heated to 60 degrees, put a kilogram of soda, stir, carefully pour in the slaked lime dissolved in water in a thin stream. Don't forget about safety measures! Here glasses and a respirator will be completely useful. Use this solution to treat what you need to clean. Scrape off loose paint with a chisel.

Disinfection
If you have mold, apply the gel described above. It can also be used to remove mold from rubber parts of washing machines and refrigerators. To disinfect the inside of the car, you need to idle the car by adding 200 grams of gel.
For the disinfection of industrial premises, where the risk of reproduction of pathogenic microbes is increased, the use of soda also gives a positive result.

It is prohibited:
1. Apply baking soda for silk, wool, leatherette and suede.
2. Aluminum cookware, refrigerator.
3. Laminate, furniture, parquet.
4. Painted wooden floor.
5. Brick walls.
6. Stretch ceilings
7. Polyvinyl chloride and other modern coatings.
Testing
To test the effect of using soda ash, we decided to take four different objects:

1. Vinyl wallpaper near the gas stove, covered with layers of grease. To get rid of such a misfortune, we had to repeat the processing three times. It was possible to almost completely clean everything, other means were less effective.
2. The door painted with white paint was smeared with our product, it turned yellow. After the rags were passed, it suddenly turned from yellow to turquoise. It turns out that we washed off the top layer. It follows from this that solvents can be successfully replaced with a soda agent.
3. An old electric stove with old fat was the most serious test. The procedure took us almost three hours. We smeared the oven with a mixture of baking soda, bleach and liquid soap and kept it on for twenty minutes. Each time, the fat became less, until it disappeared completely.
4. The painted wall near the gas stove was washed to a shine, and even the paint was not washed off.

Tests have confirmed the effectiveness of the use of soda ash, and its low cost is very attractive for housewives
